Much of the rhetoric swirling around agriculture and climate is not rooted in evidence and does not consider nuance. In contrast, this event for NY Climate Week 2025 cut through the noise and sparked thought-provoking discussion grounded in quantitative analysis.
We were excited to invite Shelby McClelland, PhD to share her recent work on trade-offs associated with natural climate solutions in agriculture. Her remarks emphasized that to advance meaningful innovation we need to confront overly simplistic narratives about the future of agriculture, avoid focusing only on carbon (don’t forget nitrogen!), and assess solutions on a local rather than global scale.
Triple Helix's Founder and Executive Director Sarah Garland, PhD presented findings from our 2025 report on opportunities for the federal government to catalyze U.S. AgTech innovation. Dr. Garland’s comments underscored that engagement with cross-sector stakeholders remains essential to ensuring emerging technology has impact in practice.
Thank you to all who joined us - looking forward to following what new collaborations were formed at this gathering! 🌱
